... i'm ready

... for my close-up, mr deville. i've become less and less of an impulse buyer over the past few years. i say that with an iota of pride until a that past saturday when i took those pics of my coworker and her brother! ever since then i've been just jonesing and dreaming and wanting to purchase a new camera so i can really take professional pictures again. my kodak easyshare dx7630 is a helluva camera, but not versatile enough! really! honest... hrumpf.

so, not that wifee and i are encouraging such spending habits, but she's at least supportive of my creative addictions, um... talents and has offered to help me look at models, options, pricing, etc. the sweet-arse olympus model on the right here is modestly priced around $900 with rebates to follow. it's a 2 lens kit, 8 mega-pixel and so so so much more... (droooool) oh oh oh, and it's got fully manual, partial, and full automatic features that draws me back to the olden days when no one even owned a goddamned computer! (stone age, eh?)

anyway, i'll letchoo all know what happens with this madness. i'm waiting on a gynormous commission check on the 22nd that will nail a subsequently gynormous amount of our debt. depending on how we divide it up, maybe a little can be put aside for a dreamy camera. stay tuned.

onnanother note - would you all be intersted in seeing some of my cartoon work? i've been planning/avoiding/putting off/deliberating over posting some of my cartoon-strip work i've done over the years to see if there's any interest generated over them. some could be reborn into a series again. but that would depend on who's reading it, leaving comments, etc. not trying to sound hokey, but if i were to get word out on other sites my work is up... maybe i could generate more traffic from other fellow artsy-types or just interested and cool folks like all of you. if it helps any, i'd likely dress them up a tad in photoshop, add color, etc... ya know! play, and get feedback? anyone!?

enjoy your weekend all. cheers.

Envy, envy, envy. While I am a NIkon fan, anyone who has any sense about photography knows the tool that is right for them. So, my unsolicited advice/comment/encouragement, Buy Olympus ASAP!!!

Then post some of your magnificent works.

As for the cartoon strip, yawn, it better be good. Ever since our local paper dumped Funky Winkerbean I have been in a snit. At least I can see it at this site. Look familiar? LMAO

I presume you would have a separate cartoon site? Just curious. I would mark it for a daily visit, just as I have this site.

jack -
one of the comics i did was back in college. i actually was able to "dorm" at seattle university for the first 2 years of my education at cornish college of the arts. they had no such facilities, so they formed a program where starving artists could "pose" as SU students and take advantage of the dorms. this spawned the comic "you're in college now" which ran for approx. 15 weeks in the local college paper.

the other 2-3 ones are attempts i made at getting "published" years ago. long before the internet and computers overall, so they're not as savvy, but may bring some smiles to faces.

i did produce a graphic novel as well. dark, mysterious, about a vampire who has eternity and doesnt' know what to do with it. my best work for sure, but to make a looong story short, it was created during a very personal and emotional period in my past... so even now i may not be ready/able to post that one.

i'll think on it regarding the 2 blog idea. this one is almost enough... and frankly, i'd prolly only POST once a week anything "toon" related, so it may still work.

thanks for the ideas, and cool you feel as strongly about the olympus as i do. i'll head out today and likely play with a couple of models and see what happens. i'm banned to purchase until after the 22nd tho. wifee put her foot down on that and i agree... giggle

cheers!

I honestly don't know much about Olympus DSLRs, but I do know that I love my Nikon D70. The D50 is a great DSLR that isn't high priced and comes with a decent lens. I suggest you search around on Flickr tags for the camera you're looking at to see some of the images it's produced for other people. It's also a good idea to search in Yahoo or Google for the camera "+ reviews" to find out what people have to say about it. I honestly love my Nikon, but I also loved my film Nikon, which is why I was more drawn to using it in digital. Do what works for you.
