.... laughter is the best medicine
... especially when they're followed with giggles and wiggly happiness. a friend of mine was feeling a bit stressed and down yesterday for a bit, and i was inspired to cheer her up. i had only a limited window of opportunity to do this, so i dove into photoshop, grabbed the paintbrush tool, and jes' went at it. Voila! i added some text that i knew/hoped would make her melt into giggles of goodness and sent it off. her response was gratifying....
omgosh. i love making people smile. it makes me so happy to know something so silly and simple can have a positive effect on a person, and now others...? she liked it so much she suggested that i add it to my trendesigns cafepress site also. i took it one step further and decided to link it to my animal organization campaign contribution efforts. when folks purchase any of these guys online, i'll put it toward adopting them in real life!
so, from two manatee lovers to all of you, have a silly smile on me.

tee to the hee!
croak! the dugong technically IS the manatee, only named differently due to regional naming histories and it's ORDER, GENUS & SPECIAS differentials.
Here's some specs too:
Dugongs are more closely related to elephants than to marine mammals such as whales and dolphins, but their closest living aquatic relatives are the manatees. Manatees are aquatic mammals that live in freshwater rivers and coastal waters of West Africa, the Caribbean, South America and the southern United States (Florida). Another close relative was Steller’s sea cow, previously found in the northern Pacific. It was hunted to extinction in the 1700s by sealers for its meat. It grew almost three times as long as the dugong and fed on large algae (kelp).
EITHER WAY, the only noticeable difference between the (2) is that the Dugong has more of a WHALE like spliced tail, unlike the Florida Manatee that has solid, fleshy pad, not unlike that of a beaver.
Would you like me to "touch up" my manatee pic and send you one?
I'd be happy to! Lemme know!
SQUOOSHY!!!! I love it!
Very cute B ^_^

It's so adorable squooshy cute! But I wouldn't say a dugong is technically a manatee. They're both in the order Sirenia, but they're different species in different families, Dugongidae and Trichechidae. They surely are similar, though, and probably equally squooshable and huggy!
:)
