... i am sooo glad

... that i don't actually LIVE in seattle... but it's always so much easier jes' to say that so folks don't look at you all glossy-eyed when you say just "washington state," or "lynnwood." but i was perusing some articles early this am from a daily email i get at my office when i came across a funny one i just had to share.

the briefest synopsis mr puddins and i can provide is the following: seattle-ites are still going to be paying for the much pained, and horribly failed seattle monorail extension program till at the very least - 2010.

for those of you not aware of the monorail project, the city spent millions on the drawings, projections, plans, while all the while the taxpayers were shelling out those millions even tho they voted the whole thing down originally. i'm not a politcal smarty by any means, but basically the project finally was halted, taxes don't get refunded (obviously) and since enough of the referandum passed, seattle folks still hafta pay for this sh*t thru the nose with no results.

i am sooo glad i don't have to pay taxes for this sh*t... pisses me off, and yet makes me so strangely happy. 2 kids in my neck of the woods came up with this plan. simple, cheap models were used... a poloroid camera... some low grade/paid models..... and frankly, the design looks better than any of the crap i'd seen from the seattle architects.

whaddayouall think?

OKKKAAAYYYY, news to me.
Paying taxes on an idea, just boggles my mind.

Positive thinking: maybe they'll divert the money to rebuilding the aquaduct.

Reality thinking: who's pocket is being lined now?

I think how it works is that the money is already spent on all those plans and salaries... the taxes through 2010 are essentially paying that. Is that right? I'm glad I'm not the only one who's confused. As a chronic bus rider, I can say that it sucks that this has probably shut down any plans for new public transit systems for a while...

Lanio - while it's not clear to me regarding your answer, i believe that you're correct. either way, i do think it's a damned shame, and i'm so glad i don't live in king county. they're flagrent misspending over the years seems to be an obvious bad thing...

more important, what did you think about the commuter puppies!? now THEY'D make great carpoolers, no?
:)

I think you are on to something. The money making guys will hate you for it, so keep looking over your shoulder.

And, no, while the idea is interesting, I won't adopt you. It's a tax thing.

Make it a good one, whatever it is.

PS: I think you must be a pushover for any idea that has pictures of cute critters attached.
