... you juuuuust can't tell it was there, can ya?

... you know the feeling you get when you do something so monumental, so impressive that it's almost earth shattering for your self esteem? oh yeah, you know the moment... revel in it, bask in that glory... hooo boy!

what the hell am i talking about? well, if you pan down 4 postings you'll see the incredibly ghetto wallpaper that was left behind by the original 1965 denizens of our house. now, wall paper is enough of a bitch to get off from, say, applying last week and having a change of mind... but 40+ year old wallpaper is difficult enough to make a grown man cry.

this weekend, wifee and i took on the horror, and with the joys of an extremely toxic chemical called "diff" (apparently it makes no DIFF if you use it or not, it'll still eat thru the bottle) that sh*tty wallpaper is gone baby! i also took the texture match spray stuff, nuked the entire wall with it after a nice primer bath of paint, then painted the hell outta it with the yellow tone and VOILA! c'est magnificant! ooohh la la!

i'll add a picture to this post tonight when i get home, but the earth shattering moment was when i realized that the wall looked 100% new! could barely (if at all.... yesh boys and girls, i'm that good) tell there was once ghetto wallpaper there, holes, and other assorted nasties!

UPDATE - here's the pics of the magical wall of goodness... all fixed and purdy... and couldn't resist showing the stained wonderfulness of floor molding/trim... hmmm... shiny....

it was only when showing it to our first guest last night that came over for 3 episodes of the new british "dr who" series ('da bomb, i must say) that i realized that 90% of my work would in due course be covered up by the new cabinets and tiled backsplash... :(

oh well, thankless job, but what the hell... i still know i rock.

It does look great - I'm so glad for each step we take making it all look so much better. It truely makes you see that the old stuff really was crap. LOL
