... do you ever feel

... like you're being watched? no no no, this isn't the scene from star wars, return of the jedi where luke and artoo are accosted by the muppet-like yoda on planet dagobah. it's a scene that's often played out by someone i live with.

for any regular readers of my blog, you know by now that our beloved maddie is "odd" at best. (note three entries down the page) THAT picture on the left happened a few months ago, but it very clearly illustrates what wifee and i go thru often with this goofy creature. she'll pick the most inopportune moments to grab her favorite toy (of the week) and jes sit there, looking like an adorable idiot until you do something about it. the only thing going thru her pea-sized brain is "play play play play play..."

normally, this is funny. we'll give her a few tugs, or tosses, but it can be bad timing! really! lemme illustrate a few examples using this funny shot as the "standard:"

  • your entertaining new guests. you want to make the best impression. your sitting in the living room, chatting away, when their mouths start to tighten up, restraining from laughter. you stop, turn in wonder to the source and find maddie. sitting there. looking like THAT... all wiggly, toy wrapped around her schmoozle.... and OH, occasionally drolling if her mouth isn't closed completely.
  • you're watching your favorite show. it's the season finale. there's explosions, there's suspense, there' suddenly a 72lb wet schmuzzle in your face, connected to wiggligoodness RIGHT IN FRONT of your tv... and she's not moving.. but she'd be HAPPY to have you try.
  • you're sound asleep. it's around 2am. deep REM is good. that is, until you hear the raspy, open mouthed and darth vader-like breathing snorkies of a severely disturbed puppers who can't get to sleep. well, if she can't sleep, neither can you!

are you starting to see my point? funny?, oh yesh. occasionally bad timing?, most certainly. do we still love her to death even tho she makes us crazy?, that's an affirmative. SOOOOO, that's all I got for you all today. week's been busier than hell, hence the limited posting. share with me a pet story, or weekend plans.. or something... aroo?

well, if she ever did that to me, when meeting you for the first time and you were hoping to make a great first impression...you would have. i LOVE it when the animals of the house get in on the act of including new people. she obviously felt they were the kind of people who were good people.

weekend plans, working saturday. girl day sunday (think hair cut and shoe shopping). tattoo work on monday (i inclue monday since it is my sunday).

can't think of any funny stories right now. not enough latte in my system yet. i might get back to you though!

HI DAD!

Hi Shannon. It's good to meet you in strange places like this. Who knew it would come to this. Then we have to be careful that the ever nosy
bronxbt is lurking in the bushes looking for madders. LMAO an inopportune comment at an opportune time.

Hazel the cat is a wonderful animal who is a good source of determining whether to rent a house to a family. But, enough about that.

I can picture all those examples perfectly in my head!! (we've always had dogs).

My personal favorite is when they bring a pair of your underwear they dug out of the hamper and bring it to the dinnertable when you have coworkers over!!

Great Monday Watercooler conversations surely ensue

There is a Black Russian at my elbow as I type this. It is far enough away from the computer that the condensation from the glass will not spill on the keyboard.

Skoal!! Bottoms up! Here's to you! Here's mud in your eye! I'll have another, thank you!
