... i have a problem

... i am sooo addicted to collecting star wars. it's actually quite sad. i'm not some huge fanatic that spouts lines from the films, i don't stalk natalie portman, (restraining orders have a habit of stopping that behaviour) but dagnabbit, i love collecting the figures! the problem is simple, i'm actually running out of room in my house. noooooo, before you shake your head(s) in disgust and wipe my site off your bloglists, i don't adorn my entire house with paraphernalia from the films, but just my home office which can only hold so many huge tupperware-like boxes to keep 'em safe. really. okay, and there may be one or two of those boxes in the garage.... giggle.

but ooooooh, looky these below! picked them up at our friendly neighborhood target store! they spoke to me. I swear to gawd. i'm trying to be good. i've avoided most places that have them. i've picked the ones i can't live without.. the rest just hang there, swinging on their little store hooks...crying out to me... *whimper*

these are really quite cool. if you don't think so, then you must've had a sad childhood where everyone else played in the sandbox with their star wars figures and you were left with jumping jacks. these badboys are RE-CARDED ORIGINALS! ..... that's right... i'll wait a moment while that sinks in.... the original artwork/photography as their originals from 1976 on up with new molds for the characters. (normally i'd use words here like, "with multiple articulation!" and things like that... but these are facts not for the faint-hearted!) i used to own most of these as a li;' one, and to see them now jes' brings back allllll kinds of memories from back in the day!!

now come on! how can that NOT BE COOL?! hello?

You said you had some knowledge of photograpy, so how come the flash bounce? LOL

Hell, when I was a lil one, not only was Stars Wars not around, Lucas was barely a gleam in his parents eyes. LOL

It's great to have hobbies/collections. Thanks for explaining re-carded originals. That should make them worth even more in the future. As if anyone could put a price on one's family. LOL

jack, i suck at flash issues when it comes to cameras. the kodak really is a glorified point and shooter, so my options were limited. NO flash and the lights from above in the dining room still made it hard to shoot....

alas, it's my curse to be substandard until i can get my grubby lil' hands on a DSLR...

bwa ah ahhahahaaaaha ahhaaaaa

Mmmm... only mildly disturbing.

Bee-mebah, as Tyler Durden always tells me- "That which U own?... OWNS YOU!"

ponderous.

The vintage figures are pretty awesome - all sorts of memories come flooding back when buying them, complete with pangs of pride watching little kids looking at them thinking there just as cool as we all did.

Did you ever see the original twelve that came out? Not a SW nut myself (collector groups frighten me) but I can't find them anywhere anymore (well, there are some places on the web like empire collectables that have a few, but having all 17 up in an office would look even more awesome than 5.
