... is it just me?

... or does mr wonderpants look like he's passing a stone? i dunno people, i'm going to see the new superman movie on the upcoming 4th of july holiday, and i'm still nervous. sure he looks like christopher reeves, sure he's got that chiseled chin-action going on, but can he do it? it's funny. at the office where i work, a few people have seen "superman returns" already and have hailed it as "super" (not a funny pun, btw) and "fantastic," etc. but there is a problem i'm starting to see raise it's ugly head:

i'm not sure some of these people were even alive when the first superman movie was released.... *whimper*

this means, and this is not meant to offend anyone, that they do not know the feeling of what it's like to see the new movie and feel that heart-tugging jolt of superman's first flight in 1978. or even better when 'ma and 'pa kent watch as this newfound and strange alien child lifts the car up above his head and giggles nonchalantley... now that's movie magic! do most movie goers care about that? i will never forget as wide-eyed 6 year old the feeling of those scenes and so many more.

it's funny, after losing so much of my childhood to my damaged noggin' after the accident so many years ago, it's odd what i remember and what i cannot. movies, stories, feelings, strong emotions still flood my thoughts. i can remember lines from films i've not seen in 20 years... and yet i can't remember what i did yesterday half the time... urgh! well, hope you all see the movie for what it's worth. bryan singer's constant focus on character development and not 'jes the action makes him a unique director to say the least. his cinematography alone is pure magic.

see it, enjoy it hopefully, and lemme know whatchoo all think - along with anything else of course... cheers!
